This is a traditionally prepared Shata Dhauta Ghrita, made by washing pure cow ghee 100 times with water until it transforms into a soft, cooling skin treatment. In Ayurveda, this process is known to refine ghee into a lighter form that sits comfortably on the skin, making it especially suitable for areas that feel dry, tight, or easily irritated.
Classical Ayurvedic texts describe skin as having seven distinct layers (Twak Saptaka) — the whole point of washing ghee a hundred times was to make it fine enough to work with skin at that depth, not just coat it.
We make ours with Dearist Happy Cow Ghee and DM water — that’s it. No aloe, no extracts, no floral actives folded in to round out the formula, which is how most versions on the market are made today (just check the full ingredient lists). Used consistently, it’s a rich daily moisturiser that helps with dryness, dullness, and the look of fine lines, it’s the same reason it’s been part of Ayurvedic skin rituals for centuries.
For babies: Shata Dhauta Ghrita has a long-standing place in traditional Indian baby care, and ours is formulated as simply as we know how — just ghee and water. That said, babies’ skin is uniquely sensitive, so please patch test first and check with your pediatrician before introducing it. This isn’t medicated and isn’t a treatment for any skin condition.
Two things to know: with zero thickeners, Due to temperature changes, the texture may naturally shift between a soft cream and a liquid form as we are facing extreme heat in some parts of India. If it melts, simply refrigerate it for a short time until it solidifies again before use. Once it solidifies, it can be kept at room temperature in your bathroom, and it will stay. And since we don’t strip or mask it, it carries a faint, natural ghee scent. Keep it away from direct heat.
